Abu Dhabi Sports Council (ADSC) was established in 2006 by President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

Since staging its first tennis event in 1976, IMG has significantly grown its position and influence in the sport, and today owns, operates or commercially represents a number of leading tournaments.

In addition to the WTA 500 Mubadala Abu Dhabi Open, IMG owns two of the three mandatory combined ATP Masters 1000 and WTA 1000 events – the Miami Open and Mutua Madrid Open – as well as the WTA 500 Mubadala Silicon Valley Classic. It also operates the ATP 250 Chengdu Open, Mubadala World Tennis Championships, and ATP Champions Tour.
