
ABU DHABI, UAE – 06 February 2026: It was a thrilling day at the 2026 Mubadala Abu Dhabi Open, presented by Abu Dhabi Sports Council, as the WTA 500 finalists were decided with Ekaterina Alexandrova impressively securing a spot in both the Singles and Doubles finals.
In the opening Singles match in the UAE capital, Hailey Baptiste, on reaching her first WTA Tour semi-final, was defeated 6-3, 6-7, 3-6 by Ekaterina Alexandrova who is looking to win her sixth WTA Tour title. Then two tournament debutants locked horns with the talented Czech Sara Bejlek booking her spot in Saturday’s final with a 7-5, 3-6, 7-5 victory against Clara Tauson. The 20 year old Bejlek said: “It’s amazing to be here in Abu Dhabi, and I feel great around the court. I’m happy to reach the final and I will leave my heart on the court for this title.”
In the Doubles, popular Southeast Asian duo Alexandra Eala and Janice Tjen were defeated in straight sets by Tereza Mihalikova and Olivia Nicholls. They will be facing Ekaterina Alexandrova and Maya Joint in the final on Stadium Court as they beat Sofia Kenin and Desirae Krawczyk 6-3, 7-6.
In the Road to Mubadala Abu Dhabi Open, there was some spectacular matches between the most talented youngsters in the country. The match that’s attracting the most attention is a spine-tingling battle between in the Under-16s between Timur Gordeev and Ayaan Malik taking place at midday. Gordeev secured the Under-16 Boys title for a second consecutive year in 2025, underlining his consistency and competitive credentials across the UAE and international junior circuits.
The champions will secure all-expenses-paid training experiences at the internationally renowned Juan Carlos Ferrero Academy in Spain, which helped develop Grand Slam champion Carlos Alcaraz.

Tomorrow you can witness all the Mubadala Abu Dhabi Open finals including the maiden Mubadala Wheelchair Tennis Invitational presented by the WTA Foundation final between World No.1 Yui Kamiji and Jiske Griffioen. The Wheelchair Tennis Final will start at 3:30pm, the Women’s Singles Final will begin at 5pm followed by the Doubles Final on Stadium Court.
